About The Drunken Sailor

I’m always excited to introduce people to The Drunken Sailor, a laid-back restaurant tucked along West End Road in the Bay Islands of Honduras, where the mood is easygoing and the welcome feels instant. Sitting at 34101 West End, this spot fits right into the island rhythm, blending casual charm with the kind of energy that makes you want to linger a little longer. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere feels social without being loud, making it just as comfortable for a relaxed afternoon stop as it is for an unplanned evening hangout. The menu leans into crowd-pleasing favorites and small plates that are perfect for sharing, so it’s simple to drop in for a quick bite or settle in and make a night of it. Drinks are a big part of the experience here, and the selection covers everything from cold beer and classic cocktails to spirits and wine, with coffee available when you want to slow the pace. Outdoor seating is a popular choice, especially when the breeze rolls in, but dine-in service keeps things cozy, and takeaway is handy when you’re on the move. What really stands out is how effortlessly the place adapts to different moods, whether you’re chatting with friends, meeting new faces, or just soaking up the island vibe solo. The Drunken Sailor doesn’t try to be fancy or overcomplicated, and that’s exactly the point, because the focus stays on good company, friendly service, and flavors that feel familiar yet satisfying. It’s the kind of restaurant you recommend without hesitation, knowing it delivers a genuine West End experience that feels welcoming, unpretentious, and perfectly in sync with its surroundings. Locals and travelers mix easily here, and conversations tend to spark naturally at the tables, which adds to the lived-in feel of the space. Because the service options are flexible, the restaurant works for spontaneous plans, casual meetups, or low-key celebrations that don’t need a rigid schedule.

We came here for drinks and ended up staying for dinner. The calamari was fresh and the pizza was great. Lorenzo was a friendly and hospitable. Recommend checking it out if you’re in the area and wanting Italian cuisine.

This is our family’s #1 favorite Italian restaurant to eat at the West End. At first we thought this place was a bar with the limited seating and based off the name of the restaurant. We have eaten here a few times in one week and loved every meal we ordered. The lasagna is absolutely the BEST I have ever had, the Chef’s special, Traditional Tortellini in Creamy Parmesan Sauce & Truffle Oil, and Cappelliacci in Ribs Sauce were amazing. The kids also loved the pizza. The Tiramisu and Panna Cotta desserts were delicious. The Italian couple are so friendly and we absolutely loved the atmosphere here.

Amazing... Recently went to Venice Italy- this place is superior by far. Funny you can find authentic Italian food in Honduras. Very small place. The staff were amazing. I asked our server if he was the owner; he never stopped moving. I had homemade Tortellini with a gorgonzola sauce. It was perfect. My girlfriend is from Philippines, grew up on fresh seafood...She ordered Linguine Allo Scoglio - shrimps, calamari, mussels, clams. She said it was the best she ever had. We both cleaned our plates

We were lucky to find this amazing restaurant on our walk through town. So glad we stopped to read the board with the daily specials. The chef is Italian and makes authentic meals. I had an amazing ravioli with shrimp and a pistachio sauce. The tiramisu was the best I’ve ever had. I highly recommend stopping by this unassuming restaurant. You will be pleasantly surprised.

My pasta dish fwas outstanding! Can’t wait to go back . Best tiramisu I’ve ever had! I grew up with a grandmother who was Italian - I’ve eaten in some of the top Italian restaurants in major cities around the world. Trust me: if you like pasta give this place a try sooner rather than later!

Here for one week on vacation and went to this place twice. Would’ve been more except we didn’t go for the first time until late in our week. The homemade bread is absolutely spectacular. We tried appetizers of bruschetta and fried pizza. Both were outstanding. We had several pasta dishes and they were amazing. Clearly homemade sauces. Highly highly recommend for a true authentic Italian taste.

Best meal we had in Roatan. Started with the Caprese salad, which was enough for two people at least. Then we had an incredible tagliatelle Bolognese, calzone, and ravioli stuffed with burrata topped with shrimp in a pistachio pesto. All were wonderful. A nice Aperol spritz and a Montepulciano accompanied it. Can’t say great things about this place.

One of my favourite restaurants in West End! I went twice here on my 1-week vacation and both times the atmosphere and food were incredible. First time: I got a delicious homemade tagliatelle with pesto sauce. After going to Italy last year, I haven’t found pasta that tops Italian pasta until this location. You could tell the pasta was freshly made and sauce was made from scratch. Second time: I decided to try one of their specials. I got the gnocchi with black truffle and ricotta. It was incredible, every bite was a burst of flavour in your mouth. Both times: I got the aperol spritz which came in a comedically tall glass — it was delicious! The atmosphere was also amazing. They have swings that you can sit on to eat your meal which makes the experience so fun. Highly recommend!
